Mermaid Skin

I am recent to the world of face makeup. I don't understand contouring and usually, if at all, keep it to a minimum of primer, CC cream, and a bit of concealer with powder to seal. That sounds like so much to me considering I never even used concealer before! I love makeup and I love the artistry and transformation that you can accomplish with it, I just don't want to look insane with brown streaks on my face because I don't know what I'm doing.

You know what I'm okay with though? Purple iridescent shimmer all over my face.

I first heard about Mermaid Skin through the ever wonderful Sultry Suburbia. You can read her very comprehensive and way informative review of this product HERE. Now, here's some of my own thoughts.

I was hesitant to order a loose powder, but the color was too luscious for me to pass up. With shipping, I paid $20 for the Babydoll Beauty highlighter. You can purchase it HERE by the way. The color is described as a "champagne color shifting highlighter that shifts from nude to soft blue, lilac, pink and silver." The ingredients mean nothing to me, but might to you and are: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, and Bis-Vinyl Dimethicone/Dimethicone Copolymer. The packaging is a 10 gram jar with rotating sifter.

Upon receiving the powder, I immediately covered my entire face with it like a crazy person (pictures above). Then I stood in front of the mirror for five minutes watching my face shimmer and sheen. The color is absolutely gorgeous in person and the advertised colors are spot on. I wore it to work and all of my friends were just as enamored as me! Whenever I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I feel like a fairy mermaid goddess! I found that the loose powder I was afraid of was very easy to manage. With the rotating sifter, I just expose a few of the holes and use a blender brush or a crease brush depending on where I'm placing it. I do not forsee this being a messy or hard to work with product like I was scared of.

Here's a look I did the other day with the Mermaid Skin being the star. I placed it underneath my brow bone, the inside corners of my eyes, and on my cheeks as a highlight.

Here's me in full sunlight.
Here's me inside our office building.
